Sub-Principal Oboe

Timothy Watts studied at Cambridge University and the Royal College of Music, winning the Joy Boughton Memorial Prize for oboe.

At the start of his career, Timothy played with the orchestra of Welsh National Opera and gave recitals for the Live Music Now scheme and the Manchester Midday concert series. He went on to become Principal Oboe with English Touring Opera and the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, of which he was a founder member, and gave many concerto performances with the City of Oxford Orchestra at the Sheldonian Theatre.

He joined the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2002 as Sub-Principal Oboe. Timothy recently represented the RPO as a member of the Coronation Orchestra at the coronation of HM King Charles III.


Timothy is a member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Board of Directors.
