On Thursday 4 December the festive spirit well and truly descended upon us in John Rutter's Christmas Celebration at the Royal Albert Hall, where we were joined by The Bach Choir, The King's Singers and BSL interpreter Angie Newman for carols old and new, classic seasonal fanfares, and John's legendary Christmas quiz.

Sir John was also presented with the Distinguished Musician Award by the Independent Society of Musicians, in recognition of his lifelong service to choral music-making and composition.

RPO on stage at The Gaumont State Cinema

On Thursday 6 November, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra made history by performing the first concert at the art deco Gaumont State Cinema, Kilburn, since 1978.

Joined by vocalists Anna-Jane Casey and Iain Mackenzie, and conducted by Ben Pope, the RPO delivered a vibrant programme to celebrate Kilburn’s rich musical heritage as part of the Kilburn Music Mile Festival.

Taking inspiration from the venue’s impressive history, the Orchestra performed hits from legendary artists who had visited the venue, including The Beatles, David Bowie and The Rolling Stones.

Over the last five years, RPO Resound has been offering monthly creative sessions, using the power of music to enhance the wellbeing of Brent residents.  

In the 2024–25 season, our workshops reached 120 participants in the community.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra led by Sir John Rutter inside St Paul's Cathedral

On Wednesday 5 November, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra returned to St Paul’s Cathedral with our Artist Laureate and internationally-celebrated composer Sir John Rutter to perform an expansive programme of his work in a special celebratory birthday concert. Joined by The Bach Choir and soloists Melanie Marshall and Jonathan Brown, the concert was ‘unmistakably the work of a master craftsman.’ (The Guardian)
