Live orchestral experiences lie at the heart of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s (RPO) mission. With a passion for sharing the thrill of music, the RPO performs in venues of all sizes across the UK and around the world. Whether in a world-renowned concert hall or a local community venue, the Orchestra strives to make each performance an unforgettable experience.
Central to this commitment are the RPO’s seven core residencies. These long-term partnerships enable the Orchestra to build lasting relationships with audiences and broaden its impact far beyond the concert stage. Working closely with concert venues, local authorities, music education hubs and community organisations, the RPO ensures that more people, regardless of background or experience, can access and enjoy the transformative power of live music.
In London, the RPO is proud to serve as Resident Orchestra at Cadogan Hall and Associate Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall. In addition, the Orchestra’s newest residency is with the London Borough of Brent, where it will establish its headquarters from autumn 2025, further strengthening its ties to the local community and creating new opportunities for outreach and engagement.
Beyond the capital, the RPO maintains vibrant residencies in four key regional centres: Crawley, Hull, Northampton, and Reading. In each of these towns and cities, the Orchestra is a regular presence, bringing world-class music-making and meaningful participation programmes to local audiences.
