Violinist Johan Dalene, our Artist-in-Residence for the 2024–25 Season, introduces himself and the music he'll be playing ahead of his concerts with us this coming season at Cadogan Hall, Northampton's Royal & Derngate, Guildford's G Live and Warwick Arts Centre. Winner of the prestigious Carl Nielsen International Competition in 2019 and Gramophone’s 2022 Young Artist of the Year, the Swedish-born Norwegian violinist is one of the most notable rising stars of his generation.

Happy birthday, Leonard Bernstein! As we celebrate the anniversary of the birth of the great American composer and conductor on the 25th of this month, we delve into five of Leonard Bernstein’s most important works that showcase his brilliance and versatility.

This month the Orchestra made its first visit to China since 2017, and its first with Music Director Vasily Petrenko. Performing concerts in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Jiageng Changsha, Wuhan and Nanjing with our Principal Cello Richard Harwood and star violinist Ray Chen as soloists, we drew large audiences in each city, and made a significant impact and helped forge lasting relationships with performing arts organisations across China.
