This autumn, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s (RPO) community and education programme RPO Resound has been building on its thriving relationship with Brent Music Service (BMS) and today marks the culmination of this very special collaboration. Brent is The Mayor’s London Borough of Culture for 2020 and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has been working in partnership with BMS, award-winning composer and music leader James Redwood, the poet Momtaza Mehri and more than 8,000 Brent school children and young members of BMS orchestras to compose and perform Anthem for Brent 2020.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is bringing audiences a huge serving of festive joy and Christmas cheer in the comfort of their own homes this December, with the exclusive broadcast of this specially recorded performance, featuring John Rutter and a host of special guests. With so many concerts cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Orchestra was thrilled to be able to record this unique production at the end of October in the stunning surroundings of St Albans Cathedral (complying fully with regional restrictions and social distancing regulations) and is proud to be able to share it with online audiences worldwide.
These are very challenging times for every arts organisation and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is delighted that its application to the Culture Recovery Fund has been successful.
