As just announced on BBC Radio 3 ‘In Tune’ this evening we are delighted to share the news that STROKESTRA® has been shortlisted for a prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society (RPS) Impact Award.

On hearing about this nomination James Williams, RPO Managing Director said: “It is wonderful that this important RPO community support and rehabilitation programme has been recognised for the benefit and wellbeing impact it has had on all the participants and communities involved. We also wish all of our category nominees the best of luck!”

The winners of all RPS awards, including the Impact Award, will be announced in a wholly-digital RPS Awards broadcast online in mid to late November.

STROKESTRA® is a pioneering stroke rehabilitation programme that harnesses the power of group creative music-making alongside professional musicians and clinicians to drive patient-led recovery in stroke patients and their carers.

The programme was developed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) in partnership with Hull & East Riding Community Stroke Services and utilises a range of specially adapted musical techniques to address the complex needs of stroke survivors and their carers.
