Joining the Orchestra for a performance of Chopin’s astonishing Second Piano Concerto is Elizabeth Sombart, renowned for her stunning interpretations of this great composer’s works. Technically taxing and richly melodic, Chopin’s masterpiece blends rippling virtuosity, Polish dance rhythms and lyricism.
Beethoven’s Symphony No.6, ‘Pastoral’ transports you to the Viennese countryside with its charming depictions of country life. Beethoven’s love for nature shines through in this characterful and uplifting work, with a spine-tingling and uplifting final movement that symbolises the calm after the storm.
