MOZART Piano Concerto No.20
BRAHMS Symphony No.2
Alexander Shelley Conductor
Kit Armstrong Piano
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Kit Armstrong started his career as a child prodigy at a very early age. The young American pianist of British-Taiwanese parentage is a renowned interpreter of Mozart's Sonatas and was acclaimed as “Artiste étoile” at the Würzburger Mozartfest, in 2016 and is an ideal interpreter for Mozart's Piano Concert No.20. Johannes Brahms, also a celebrated piano virtuoso of his time, highly appreciated this Mozart concerto and even wrote a cadenza for it. Brahms's Symphony No.2 was enthusiastically received by the audience at its première in 1877, and has remained one of his most cherished works ever since. With a transparent approach, British conductor Alexander Shelley avoids musical heaviness and illuminates the sublime architecture of Brahms' music.
