Beethoven: The Revolutionary - Orchestral Concert I

Tuesday 23 June 2020, 7.30pm

BEETHOVEN Violin Concerto in D major

BEETHOVEN Symphony No.3, 'Eroica'

Pinchas Zukerman Conductor/Violin
John Suchet Presenter

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Pinchas Zukerman directs the opening orchestral concert of the Festival, performing Beethoven’s passionate Violin Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

From the impact of the two opening chords of Beethoven’s Symphony No.3, ‘Eroica’, the fiery and revolutionary spirit in the composer’s music is at its most electrifying. Few orchestral works since have left such an imposing shadow over both the Classical and Romantic canons, which continues to endure with its brilliance, inventiveness, and its masterstrokes of the symphonic form.
