Join the nation’s favourite orchestra for an evening of orchestral gems, beginning with Kodaly’s enchanting Dances of Galánta, a musical tour of the composer’s native Hungary, featuring the folk melodies that helped form its musical identity. The centrepiece of this evening’s performance is Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, a devilishly technical and lavishly expressive work, performed by celebrated pianist Daniel Ciobanu.
Dvořák’s powerful yet poignant ‘From the New World’ Symphony concludes the evening; a rightful staple in the top 20 of Classic FM’s ultimate Hall of Fame.

*Due to a hand injury, Mark Bebbington regrets that he will be unable to play in this evening's concert. In his place, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is excited to welcome Daniel Ciobanu to perform Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.
Romanian born Daniel Ciobanu first attracted international acclaim in 2017 at the Arthur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv where he won both Silver Medal and Audience Prize. His distinctive musical personality and technical command has led to performances with orchestras such as Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Israel Philharmonic and Israel Camerata, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, George Enescu Philharmonic and Romanian National Radio Orchestra.
