BRAHMS Tragic Overture
GRIEG Piano Concerto
BEETHOVEN Symphony No.3, ‘Eroica’
Victor Aviat Conductor
Sergio Tiempo Piano
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Brahms’ expressive Tragic Overture opens the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2018–19 Season at The Hexagon with triumphant brass and heroic strings.
With driving, rousing outer movements and a touch of joie de vivre in the middle, Grieg’s glorious Piano Concerto is rightly considered one of the greatest piano concertos of all time.
In contrast to the sweet and lyrical melodies of Grieg’s masterpiece, Beethoven’s 'Eroica' Symphony is grand and majestic, with the orchestra out in full force for this concert’s finisher.
Update 2 October 2018: Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control Andrew Zolinsky is unable to perform in tonight’s concert and we are grateful to Sergio Tiempo for standing in at short notice.
