"It gives me the greatest pleasure to present to you our brand new 2022–23 Season of concerts as Resident Orchestra at Cadogan Hall. They say that there’s ‘no place like home’ and that’s certainly how we feel about the intimate atmosphere and rich acoustic at Cadogan Hall, where audience members can really feel at one with the music and the Orchestra and our guest artists thrive off this closeness.
Engaging pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason joins us as the RPO’s Artist-in-Residence, performing three concerts across the season. Her interpretation of the music of Clara Schumann has already won wide critical acclaim, and we look forward to Isata opening the season with Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto, followed by works by Prokofiev and Dohnányi.
The Orchestra welcomes an inspiring line-up of conductors and soloists to collaborate on something of a musical adventure, with pieces that will tell intriguing stories, explore magical worlds and stir the senses. We have highly anticipated return visits by Principal Associate Conductor Alexander Shelley, Anu Tali and Jac van Steen, plus exciting debuts from conductors including Shiyeon Sung, Roderick Cox, Adam Hickox, Gemma New and Anna-Maria Helsing, to name but a few. As well as Isata, an outstanding collection of soloists will take centre-stage, including Jennifer Pike, Narek Hakhnazaryan, Shunta Morimoto and Rosanne Philippens, and there is the chance to hear the next instalment of our collaboration with the City of London Choir, exploring the music of Vaughan Williams and Ravel."
