Principal Horn

Ben Hulme joined the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as joint Principal Horn in March 2023 and before this, he was Section Principal Horn at the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. He regularly plays with orchestras across the UK and has recently appeared in several film, television, video game and pop recordings.

Graduating in 2019, Ben studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Richard Watkins, Michael Thompson, Martin Owen and Katy Woolley, and was the recipient of the Sir Elton John Scholarship. He was made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2023. 

Away from the horn, Ben is a Season Ticket holder at Manchester United and also enjoys volunteering for the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust.


Ben is a member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Board of Directors.
