If music be the food of love, opera is the ultimate candlelit dinner – an endless banquet of soaring passion, tender emotions that go straight to your heart. This Valentine’s Day, treat the special people in your life to the full menu: the unforgettable melodies of Bizet’s Carmen, including Micaëla’s touching aria ‘Je dis, que rien ne m’épouvante’ (I say, let nothing frighten me), a selection of works from Verdi’s iconic La traviata, and many more timeless favorites including pieces from Strauss’ Die Fledermaus (The Bat) and Puccini’s La bohème.
This will be operatic romance at its most indulgent, dressed in the silken sound of the full Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and delivered with love by maestro Jordan de Souza and a glittering line-up of opera stars.
Nicky Spence ‘displayed his unstoppable and expansive energy, adaptability and wit, from Ravel and Poulenc to John Dankworth, Victoria Wood and Stephen Sondheim… It was over too soon.’ – The Guardian, November 2024
Anne-Marie MacIntosh ‘brought a wealth of experience to her role… Right from the get go, the audience sensed that MacIntosh was in full control… with a strength and sumptuousness which made her vocal fireworks seem effortless.’ – Opera Canada, January 2025
