Berlioz's titanic setting of the Te Deum provides a spectacular work to celebrate 175 years of Guildford Choral Society. Fewer than 10 other choral societies in the UK can trace their roots back more than 175 years and since its foundation in 1839 Guildford Choral Society has a continuous performance record - an achievement worth marking!

Along with one of the UK's great orchestras, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and with the Chichester Singers, Portsmouth Choral Union, City of London Choir and a large children's chorus drawn from schools in Guildford and London, over 500 voices will combine to deliver this magnificent work. Conceived on a gigantic scale, the first performance was conducted by Berlioz himself in 1855. The conductor for this performance will be Jonathan Willcocks, Musical Director of Guildford Choral Society.

Also featured in the programme are two quintessential English works: Parry's stirring Blest Pair of Sirens and Elgar's Enigma Variations, the famed musical sketch that includes the much-loved and moving Nimrod.
