“It’s one of the nicest things I’ve ever seen. I smiled the whole time, and it’s the happiest I’ve seen them. Patients and staff have been talking about it, it’s created a buzz because it’s something to look forward to. It’s great to see it fulfil Occupational Therapy goals and make everyone so happy in the process.” – UCLH Allied Health Professional

As part of RPO Resound's STROKESTRA® programme, we recently held three fantastic days of workshops for people affected by strokes at UCLH National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square, London.

STROKESTRA® is an innovative programme that is designed to aid stroke patients' recovery through music making.

These workshops involved creative music-making, team leadership, and group collaboration. The participants were central to the project and celebrated their hard work with a joyful performance in the hospital chapel, performing alongside RPO musicians to an audience of family, friends and staff.

We received great feedback from both the participants and staff:

“Seeing one of our patients taking the lead at various points during the final performance was awesome.”– Luisa Zenobi-Bird, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. “I have never seen staff on the ward so happy and energised. It was a huge boost to everyone's wellbeing in the context of a very demanding work environment.” – Luisa Zenobi-Bird, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. “I loved every minute.” – Workshop participant
