About The Hexagon

The Hexagon hosts an eclectic mix of entertainers from big name Comedians, Spectacular Musicals, Children's Shows, Classical Concerts, Opera, Pantomime, Theatre, Dance and everything in between.

Built in 1977 by Robert Matthew Johnson Marshall (RMJM) in the Brutalist style of modernist architecture, the venue's capacity varies from 1,200 to 1,686 depending on the programme.

We are currently undergoing some exciting new development to create a cutting-edge, intimate 200-seat, 300 standing theatre alongside the Main Hexagon venue, perfect for comedy gigs and bands. Seating can be removed to create a standing space for 300 people, and there is a gallery with more seating on the first floor. The Studio Theatre is due to open in Spring 2027 and the main theatre is open as usual throughout this building work.
