Description

A sparkling evening of romance, tragedy and high spirits: the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra joins an international cast of soloists to perform a fabulous selection of music from the world’s most popular operas.

Love is all around, from the tenderness of ‘Che gelida manina’ (La bohème) and the sensuality of ‘Habanera’ (Carmen) to the complexity of the Rigoletto Quartet. Enjoy heart-stopping duets from The Pearlfishers and Lakmé alongside the robust good humour of ‘Non più andrai’ (The Marriage of Figaro), ‘Glitter and Be Gay’ (Candide) and ‘Brindisi’ (La traviata).

Benjamin Pope conducts the London Oriana Choir in rousing choruses by Verdi, Mozart and Mascagni, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in orchestral favourites from Eugene Onegin and The Barber of Seville.

With glorious melodies, richly expressive lyrics that delve into every corner of the human condition, and storylines that travel around the world and back in time, this gala promises an unforgettable night of opera for all.
