Description

Part of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival

The Guardian didn‘t hesitate to call Thomas Hampson’s relationship with the music of Gustav Mahler “obsessive” – and indeed, since those first recordings in the 1980s under Leonard Bernstein, their names have been inseparable, almost like Maria Callas and Verdi. On this remarkable evening, the new Professor and Director of the Vocal Academy invites Festival guests to experience this musical passion up close and in person – joined by Vasily Petrenko and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, that prestigious ensemble where Festival founder Yehudi Menuhin served as Principal Guest Conductor from 1959 to 1968.
