The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s performs at the Kuppelsaal in Hannover, conducted by Vasily Petrenko, begins with Mussorgsky’s Night on the Bare Mountain, where the composer battles his demons with spine-tingling intensity. Next, Sibelius’ Violin Concerto brings the fire and ice of windswept landscapes, demanding both virtuosity and emotion from the soloist. The program concludes with Brahms’ First Symphony, a dramatic and dynamic work that showcases the full power of the orchestra, culminating in a triumphant finale that solidifies Brahms’ mastery of the symphonic form.
