Join musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for fun, creative music sessions specially designed for stroke survivors and their family carers.
STROKESTRA® is a non-clinical group bringing together stroke survivors and professional musicians to take part in a range of fun musical activities. Delivered by expert facilitators, sessions will get everyone listening, conducting, creating and performing music together - even those with no prior musical experience. Activities are evidence-based and bring intrinsic social, emotional, cognitive, physical and communication benefits, all while creating Hull’s very own Stroke Orchestra.
‘If you have a stroke you think your life is completely over, because you can’t do what you did before. But coming here you found out that you can do things and it’s been very interesting. … Everyone’s the same, we’ve always got something, you know, but actually everybody’s got a big smile on their face these days.’ - STROKESTRA® Participant
