Cristian Măcelaru conducts Tom Coult’s Codex, a piece inspired from the fantastical works of artist Luigi Serafini, it’s a compendium of imaginary animals and landscapes designed to charm and mesmerize the listener. The dazzling orchestration and fairytale story within Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite (1919) rounds out the 2018–2019 season with a breath-taking finale.
