Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture provides a stirring curtain raiser to tonight’s concert, conjuring the sights and sounds of Scottish scenery, from calm still waters to intense and dramatic storms.
The concert closes with Beethoven’s stirring Symphony No.6, ’Pastoral’ which provides the perfect conclusion to this orchestral journey through nature.
*Thomas Albertus Irnberger who had previously been advertised as the guest violinist has withdrawn from this concert due to illness, we are grateful to Benjamin Baker for agreeing to step in at short notice.
