Featuring some of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s outstanding string players, this poignant programme opens with Haydn’s graceful yet powerful String Quartet in B Minor. This is followed by Mozart’s tender and pensive String Quintet in D Major, which ends with an exhilarating fast movement, keeping you on the edge of your seat. Closing the concert is Brahms’ String Sextet in B Flat Major. Its lyrical intensity is soaked in tragedy, perfectly balanced by the playful third movement.
