Need to know

The Emerging Disabled Music Leaders Network Sessions offer a great opportunity for Disabled musicians, producers, sound artists, singers and composers from across East London, Essex and East Anglia to come together to meet new colleagues and build their practice in music facilitation.

The sessions, hosted by RPO Creative Leader Tim Steiner, a specialist in improvised and collaborative performance, are comprised of two elements, the first, a sharing opportunity, where group members deliver a short presentation surrounding their current practice and the second, professional development focused on cultivating participants own a tool box of workshop games, warm-ups and ways in which to develop new compositions within a group setting.

In this, the first of three sessions to be held in 2018 (future dates tbc) guitarist Adrian Lee and flautist Ruth Montgomery will give a short presentation about their recent trainee music leader placements with both the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and City of London Sinfonia.

The networking session form part of a programme of mentoring and skills development for emerging Disabled music leaders produced by Orchestras Live in collaboration with the RPO and partners in Essex. The project aims to support more Disabled musicians into creative leadership roles by facilitating conversations between artists and orchestras to access placements on existing music projects.
