The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra returns to Aylesbury Waterside Theatre for a summer concert of outstanding classics.
The dark and expressive opening to Schubert’s Symphony No.8, known as the ‘Unfinished’ Symphony, gives way to a mysterious winding melody, setting the scene for the dramatic music which is to come. Many composers have tried to finish the Symphony, but no one could match the brilliance of Schubert and his much-loved themes.
Following this is Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.4, which opens with a soft and subtle piano solo, creating a magical atmosphere. This contrasts with the excitement of the energetic final movement, which will showcase pianist Danny Driver’s extraordinary talent.
The concert concludes with Brahms’ stunning Fourth Symphony. The lush orchestration shows off every instrument, combining lyrical melodies with short bursts of exhilaration to create an intense and thrilling piece, culminating in a majestic finale.
