There is no work more appropriate to close Hull City Hall's 2016–17 Classical Season than with Beethoven’s divine tour de force, his Symphony No.9, 'Choral'. Beethoven’s masterful musical celebration of the human spirit is widely considered to be the composer’s greatest legacy to classical music, with its awe-inspiring ‘Ode to Joy’ climax. The Orchestra will be joined by a host of talented singers and the Leeds Philharmonic Chorus who perform with ‘power, precision, and panache’ (Bachtrack).

Audiences will also be able to hear conductor Mario Venzago who leads critically acclaimed pianist Danny Driver in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4. Softly opening with charming themes and subtle nuances, this piece later gives way to high drama and technical brilliance.
