Israeli violinist and conductor Pinchas Zukerman has been gracing the concert halls of the world for over 50 years. Since 2009, he has been Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, but, on this occasion, he returns to Manchester as a soloist, performing Elgar’s wonderful Violin Concerto. Zukerman has a special affinity with this work, which, while technically demanding, is suffused with intimate, delicate lyricism. Mighty Beethoven precedes this Romantic masterpiece; his stormily tragic Coriolan Overture and the enduring miracle which is his 'Pastoral' Symphony.
