The RPO and partners The Marina Theatre, Access Community Trust, Lowestoft Maritime Museum and the Mincarlo Trawler are putting on a creative festival week celebrating the maritime heritage of Lowestoft to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the Battle of Lowestoft.

As part of the festival, 50 local adults are invited to take part in a week-long project creating original compositions about the local sea heritage in music and word. Beginning with group visits to explore the Lowestoft Maritime Museum and Mincarlo Trawler, participants will then spend three days working with either Royal Philharmonic Orchestra musicians or professional writer Dean Parkin to devise responses in music or word.

The group will perform their original pieces at two public performances on the final day of the festival: first aboard the Mincarlo Trawler for a lunchtime performance at 1.00pm, and again outside The Marina Theatre at 6.45pm - preceding the RPO’s related concert.
