With one of the most celebrated tunes in the world, Schubert’s famously ‘unfinished’ two-movement Symphony is both beautiful and mysterious; a small masterpiece beloved by performers and audiences alike. Praised for the purity of his lyrical and heartfelt performances, Leon McCawley performs Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.23 – a product of one of Mozart’s greatest Viennese years. Tonight’s concert features one of Mendelssohn’s stirring evocations of the natural world, his romantic recreation of the dramatic Scottish coast: his Third Symphony directed by world-renowned conductor and winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society Conductor Award in 2013, Kirill Karabits.
