Principal Percussion

Born in Dartford in Kent, Stephen Quigley studied percussion and organ at the Royal Academy of Music and made his professional debut in 1981. That same year he started working with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and has remained there ever since. He has worked with many of the world’s great conductors and soloists and has enjoyed playing to audiences the world over.

Stephen taught at the Royal Academy of Music for thirty years and has given classes in Europe and the USA. His favourite composers include Bach, Messiaen and Strauss.

He enjoys swimming in the North Sea and watching cricket, rugby and tennis.
