Sub-Principal Trombone

Tom is the Sub-Principal Trombone with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, having previously served as Principal Trombone (No.2) with the Orchestra of Opera North. He has enjoyed a wide-ranging freelance career, performing with many of the UK’s top orchestras across the country and on international tours. For nearly a decade, he has also played in Paul Heaton’s band, appearing at major festivals, arenas, and stadiums throughout Europe and beyond. Raised in a musical family—his father was the lead singer with the legendary Lancashire folk group The Houghton Weavers. Tom began his brass playing in Bolton Music Service, moving onto Chetham's School of Music, Royal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music.
