Ruby Collins: Bassoon

Sub-Principal Bassoon

Growing up in South-East London, Ruby Collins studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Miriam Gussek, Helen Storey and Dan Jemison, where she graduated in 2021. She then moved to Germany to study for her Master's degree at the Folkwang Universität der Künste with Malte Refardt.

Prior to joining the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2025, Ruby held a contract with the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie in Germany. Ruby has performed with both UK and German orchestras, such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Essen Philharmonic Orchestra and Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
