About Liz Varlow
Sub-Principal Viola
Liz Varlow studied viola at the Royal College of Music where she received numerous prizes, including the prestigious Tagore Gold Medal.
Liz held positions with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestra before joining the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as Sub-Principal Viola in 2004.
Liz has always combined her orchestral career with chamber music, education work with RPO Resound, coaching and charity work. She is currently a trustee at Jessie’s Fund and has done a lot of work for families affected by type 1 diabetes, campaigning for better education, support and healthcare.
Liz is the Vice Chair of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Board of Directors.
