Sub-Principal Clarinet/Principal E-flat Clarinet
American clarinettist Sonia Sielaff joined the RPO in 2017 as Sub-Principal Clarinet and Principal E-flat Clarinet. She was previously Associate Principal and E-flat Clarinet of the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra.
In addition to the RPO, Sonia regularly performs with such orchestras as the London Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonia of London. She has performed as guest principal clarinettist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
Sonia’s principal teachers include Yehuda Gilad, Joaquin Valdepeñas, Elsa Verdehr and Fan Lei.
A passionate educator, she is currently on the faculty at the Royal Academy of Music.
