Following a successful pilot in 2015, the RPO and Hull Integrated Community Stroke Service (HICSS) are continuing work on STROKESTRA, a pioneering creative music ensemble providing stroke rehabilitation to participants in Hull.
A series of workshops will allow stroke survivors and their carers to take part in participatory music activities alongside world-class professional musicians, all while being supported by HICSS staff to work towards physical, emotional, social, cognitive and communicative recovery goals. Patients, carers, clinicians and musicians will work together to devise original pieces of music to be performed live in a public concert as part of the national BBC Music Day celebrations on Friday 3 June.
