Pinchas Zukerman performs Beethoven

Wednesday 2 March 2016, 7.30pm

ELGAR Serenade for Strings

BEETHOVEN Violin Concerto

TCHAIKOVSKY Symphony No.4

Pinchas Zukerman Conductor/Violin

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Convinced that Fate itself was out to destroy him, Tchaikovsky poured everything into this shattering symphony: a no-holds-barred emotional autobiography, told in music of uncompromising rawness and drama.

This outstanding piece will be conducted by one of the world’s most admired violinists, conductors and all-round musicians; an artist who has been described as “a phenomenon in the world of music for over four decades” and who is the Orchestra's Principal Guest Conductor: Pinchas Zukerman. As well as Tchaikovsky, Zukerman will also lead the Orchestra in Elgar's Serenade and will perform arguably one of the very greatest of classical violin concertos.
