Walter Weller
Born in Vienna, he became a member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of seventeen. At 22 he became Konzertmeister and made his debut as a conductor in 1966 at the age of twenty-two. He has been regularly invited as a Guest Conductor by major orchestras throughout the world and has acquired an extensive operatic repertoire as well as a significant discography. One of the highlights of his career, whilst Principal Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, was a highly acclaimed tour of the Far East in 1981, including the first-ever concert by a European.
