The Royal Albert Hall – a Grade I listed building – is one of the most famous entertainment venues in the world. Opened in 1871 by Queen Victoria, the Royal Albert Hall has maintained its position as the home to a wide variety of happenings. Built with the proceeds from the Great Exhibition of 1851, it formed the central auditorium in Prince Albert’s vision for a centre of learning in South Kensington. Its founder’s vision was that it should be used to foster understanding and appreciation of the arts and sciences.

Today, the Hall continues to host some of the most high-profile and significant events in the year’s calendar ranging from the BBC Proms – the world’s largest classical music festival – to performances by iconic stars of all genres of music, sporting tournaments, circus, operas, ballets, banquets and education events, attracting audiences of well over a million.

In the fields of the arts and entertainment, the Royal Albert Hall remains the nation’s hall – the world’s stage.
