TCHAIKOVSKY Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture
MENDELSSOHN Violin Concerto
DVORÁK Symphony No.9, ‘From the New World’

A special Valentines performance with three sublime romantic classics, opening with the popular tale of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers in Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture. The Orchestra is joined by violinist Tamsin Waley Cohen, a performer of ‘fearless intensity’ (The Guardian), who will perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. There is perhaps no more popular or beloved violin concerto than Mendelssohn’s masterpiece, soaring into the passionate opening theme in the solo violin and concluding in an enchanting, dazzling finale.

Inspired by his travels across America, Dvorák’s Symphony No.9, ‘From the New World’, is by far one of the most famous and drew the Romantic era to a powerful close.
