WALTON Crown Imperial
COATES London Suite, 'London Everyday'
VAUGHAN WILLIAMS Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis
ELGAR 'Enigma' Variations

Performing music by four of England’s finest composers, the triumphant sound of Walton’s celebratory Crown Imperial march, kick-starts the festivity. This quintessentially English sound is echoed throughout Coates’ The London Suite. From the bustling marketplace at Covent Garden to a quiet evening at Westminster, Coates’ memorable sounds of the capital are bound to get your feet tapping.

In contrast, the concert features two works by Vaughan Williams, evoking glorious images of pastoral England in his beautiful The Lark Ascending and in his stunning Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis. Elgar’s much admired set of fourteen 'Enigma' variations brings the celebrations to a spectacular close.
