ROSSINI The Barber of Seville Overture

FAURÉ Pavane

RODRIGO Concierto de Aranjuez

BIZET Carmen excerpts

PIAZZOLLA, arr. ISRAEL and GOSS Libertango

RIMSKY-KORSAKOV Capriccio espagnol

Shake off the autumn blues by joining the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for an evening of orchestral favourites, deeply infused with the sounds and rhythms of sunny Spain. Bizet’s fiery Carmen and Fauré’s stately Pavane frame Rodrigo’s ever-popular Concierto de Aranjuez, full of sunshine and performed by rising star Stewart French, under the baton of Spanish conductor Eduardo Portal. Rossini’s The Barber of Seville Overture opens the evening with its memorable melodies, Piazzolla’s feisty Libertango adds a dab of dance and Rimsky-Korsakov’s spirited Capriccio espagnol rounds off this concert.
