MOZART Clarinet Concerto
VAUGHAN WILLIAMS Symphony No.5
Acclaimed young British clarinettist Julian Bliss takes centre stage to perform Mozartís ever-popular Clarinet Concerto. Composed during the last months of Mozart's life, it is a work rich in expressive melodies and ethereal beauty.
Barry Wordsworth also conducts Sibelius' patriotic tone poem reflecting Finland's struggle for independence, along with a symphony by Gloucestershire-born Vaughan Williams which, though composed amid the turbulence of World War II, is remarkably serene and tranquil. The piece was dedicated to Sibelius.
