BORODIN Prince Igor Overture

TCHAIKOVSKY Violin Concerto

SIBELIUS Finlandia

ELGAR 'Enigma' Variations

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra return to Aylesbury to perform a programme packed full of all-time orchestral greats. Borodin’s mysterious and exciting Prince Igor Overture precedes Tchaikovsky’s dazzling Violin Concerto, a firm favourite of violinists and audiences throughout the world. The Concerto finds a thrilling exponent in the hands of violinist Jack Liebeck, winner of the 2010 Classical BRIT Award for Young British Performer of the Year.

Two magnificent nationalistic works complete the programme: Sibelius’ atmospheric tone poem, Finlandia, inspired by the composer’s homeland and Elgar’s quintessentially English orchestral portraits, the ‘Enigma’ Variations. This treasured piece of music never fails to rouse audiences with the stirring Nimrod at its heart.
