SCHUBERT Symphony No.8, 'Unfinished'
MOZART Clarinet Concerto
BEETHOVEN Symphony No.7
One of classical music's most well-known and respected soloists, British clarinettist Emma Johnson joins the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to perform Mozart's ethereal and beautiful Clarinet Concerto. Mozart's instinct for the clarinet's mellow tone and sinuous flexibility is unsurpassed and the slow movement is justly famous for its exquisite lyricism.
Schubert's 'Unfinished' Symphony is a magnificent work; the variety and immediacy of the themes suffusing the two movements are breathtaking: at once fragile, shimmering and deeply moving. Beethoven, another symphonic genius, demonstrates his mastery of the form in the glorious Seventh Symphony, full of profound melodies and concluding with an irrepressibly boisterous finale.
